When saturated clay soil pushes against a basement wall, the wall bows inward — first a slight curve, then cracks, then real structural risk. Our wall anchor and reinforcement systems straighten and permanently stabilize bowing walls.
Lateral soil pressure is the culprit. Chattanooga's clay soils absorb enormous amounts of water during heavy rains, expand, and press against foundation walls with tons of force. Block and poured walls alike can bow, tilt, or shear under that pressure — and the problem never reverses on its own.
Wall anchors are the proven fix for significant bowing. Steel plates inside the wall connect through the soil to anchors buried in stable ground outside; tightening the system pulls the wall back toward plumb and holds it permanently. For moderate bowing, carbon fiber straps or steel I-beam braces add the needed reinforcement without exterior excavation.
Because a bowing wall is a structural issue, it deserves a structural assessment — not a patch.
